The 2004 edition of the annual review consists of 23 papers that assess in vitro and in silico approaches to predicting drug glucuronidation parameters, methods for identifying ligands at orphan G-protein coupled receptors, and some chemicals shown to cause morphological changes in the developing nervous system. The contributors also present recent research on organic anion and peptide transporters for renal drug elimination, the major steps in botulinum toxin action, the role of oxidative stress in carcinogenesis, the potential of endogenous neural stem cells in CNS repair, and the biologic and molecular basis for sex-related disparities in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
