The Queen of Ardene is in danger. The pirates who have been harrowing the island of Karn focus their efforts on the queen of the nation of the east. Kyne and Eileen, tired and under pressure, attempt to get to the queen before her life is threatened. Making matters worse, the pair find themselves in unwelcome company as they make the journey to the capital. Pirates and plague abound. Will Eileen and Kyne be able to save the queen?
