COSMOS IN YOUR EYES LUU NGUYEN DAT ABOUT POETRY To speak of poetry is to experience anew the intense feelings when we first read a poem that moved us, that shook us and left us breathless. Poetry of heart, joy and sorrow, it infiltrates life and life splits it as the river reflects the smile, and the breath is diluted with the evanescent waves. With poetry, the ocean changes colors. It becomes mystical, and impalpable in the vision and our souls open themselves to mise en abyme [1] of the poet. Poetry reveals love, with its secret language at once mysterious and universal. Poetry revels in light, in timeless auroras past, present, and future, between the last ray of sun and the night spark, when nature freezes silence and the words immolate themselves in their original splendor. Poetry is demanding. It claims the allegiance of the totality of life and being; asks that all rivers to join the ocean; wonders why the inspiration dries up after love is fulfilled. It is the first cry of life and the voice of conscience. It is the source of the inexhaustible passion. Specular and decentered, poetry is transformed into symbols and incantations, metaphors and seduction; in honey and spices, tenderness and cruelty; in immense drunkenness and minimal destitution. Poetry is real and abstract: it is flooded with signs and absences, links and gaps. The poet falls in love with words full of life, complete and unfinished, with multiple dimensions, halfway between the absolute and the relative. Poetry is body and physical. it is also amorous gallantry and childish agitation, like the flowing of blood after the skin is cut, torn, and peeled. Poetry insists on its own existence and can be spiritually powerful when extraordinary. It claims its imperishable existence outside of social conventions, beyond academic formalities.
