Part 1 covers various Tibetan customs in Gannan Prefecture including the area of Bla-braṅ (Labrang or Xiahe), Maqu (Maqu), The-bo, etc.; including the naming of children, nomadic tribe formation and migration, New Year celebrations, etc. Part 2 includes articles on Tibetan literary criticism, in particular a comparison of the stories of Pad-ma-ʼbyuṅ-gnas (Padmasambhava) and Ge-sar (Gesar).
