The life and death of notorious outlaw Jesse James has been told and retold. We know how he lived, but do we really know how he died? Robert Ford, "that dirty little coward who shot Mr. Howard," was a trusted member of the James gang. Isn't it conceivable that Jesse, a known mastermind, would have entrusted someone close to him to help set up a false tale to take the heat off the attempt to find and bring to justice America's most inventive outlaw?
