Provides an overview of non-standard employment from a gender perspective. Using data from the quarterly Labour Force Survey and the first three waves of the British Household Panel Survey, examines the characteristics of flexible workers, the industries and occupations in which they work, flexible employment over the lifetime, and changes in flexible work over the 1980s.
