
Asa Meade Simpson (1826-1915) moved from Maine to Coos Bay, Oregon and established the Simpson shipyards at nearby North Bend, Oregon. The country estate of the family became known as "Shore Acres," and later became part of the Oregon State Highway Commission's seashore park system.
