Long gone are the days of struggling to write. Pushing the Pen is a tool to help combat writer's block, foster creative thinking, and encourage writers of all skill levels to return to the craft and create something new. This book of prompts contains a multitude of ideas to explore, that revolve around two main themes: emotions and the body. As you wind your way through its pages, you will be pressed to expand the ways in which you think and write about your emotions and your body. The hope is that by the time you have completed working your way through all the prompts, you would have generated enough work for your own zine, chapbook, or even full-length poetry collection. In addition to prompts on every page, some pages will have additional challenges for you to try, in order to further test your skills and flex your creative brainpower. These prompts however do not focus on form. Some may encourage you to fashion your poems after a certain style or method of expression, but there is no emphasis on the poems all being haikus, sonnets, or something in between. It's time to push the pen!
