Excerpt from Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary Annual Reports, 1867-1884 The past year presents no new features and calls for no special notice. The report gives the record Of a large num ber of individual cases treated at the Infirmary, and the consequent return Of many persons to the body Of active and industrious members Of the community. The surgeons, in rendering this annual account, note that the number Of patients treated has not Increased in the ordi nary ratio. This would be a matter Of congratulation if it showed that we had reached the maximum Of cases requiring treatment with the present population of 'the State; they, however, do not attribute the small increase to this cause, but to the want of proper and convenient accommodations, in fact, to our having reached the extreme limit of our capa city for usefulness.
