Project ELVYN was set up by the British Library Research and Development Department to test the practicalities and potential pitfalls of publishers' delivering journals electronically directly to libraries. The editors present the results of the experiment, identifying several problem areas to be addressed in future efforts. They also review recent and current electronic journal projects and discuss topics such as human factors, publishing costs of an electronic journal, and implementation at university sites.
