This volume represents the work of cardiologists in hospitals, scientists in cardiologic research institutions, nuclear physicians and physicists on both sides of the Atlantic. The structure of the clinical part of the volume follows the line of heart pathology, starting with the myocardium: myocardial (heart) function (gated blood pool, first transit), myocardial perfusion, myocardial metabolism (PET, SPET). Failures of the anatomical structure of the heart (valvular failures and shunts), abnormalities of the excitation and conduction systems of the heart, and special areas of nuclear cardiology and peripheral circulation are topics of the subsequent chapters.
