An example is known as supercritical fluid extraction. The purpose of this report is to summarize various aspects of supercritical fluid extraction including a definition of the phenomena, current industrial applications, technical difficulties and, where possible, the identification of areas where further research would be of value. In addition, processing aspects which impact on the cost effectiveness of supercritical fluid extraction are considered.
