During the 1981/1982 and 1982/1983 heating seasons, theConsumers' Gas Company Ltd. conducted a field evaluation on a newmarket entry appliance, a self-contained hybrid residentialforced warm air space heating system. Two models of the spaceheating system were evaluated, one against a soft referencestanding pilot natural gas furnace over the two heating seasonperiod, the other against a soft reference conventional oilfueled forced air furnace during the 1981/1982 heating seasonand against a hard reference electric plenum heater during the1982/1983 heating season. The energy consumption of eachappliance under test was recorded through metering and referencedto outside temperature at each site. The consumption datagathered for each appliance at each site was analyzed by aregression analysis against outside temperature and comparisonsmade on the correlations.
