According to Abuelita Ana Sofia, who was old enough to know such things, the puppy was born under a tree in an orange grove – a navel orange grove. The pup was the last of the litter and not much attention was paid to her. She was small with the long legs of a runner and fur the color of Christmas morning hot cocoa. Abuelita Ana Sofia looked past the pup’s closed eyes and saw the reflection of a wanderer and named the tiny pup "Tula". That was the first thing that happened.
