This book discusses the relationship between transport and tourism with a particular focus on how to improve the destination function of gateways. The case study chosen is the Cook Strait ferries and the ferry ports of Wellington and Picton, in New Zealand. The perspectives of ferry passengers and transport and tourism operators are presented in order to compare and contrast the realities of Picton, a small resort town, and Wellington, the capital city.
