Heo's (political science, U. of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) study fits into a new debate over how reductions in military spending since the end of the Cold War, known as the peace dividend, should be used. This book provides tests which use non-linear estimation techniques to assess the complex relations between defense spending and economic growth around the world. He concludes that the peace dividend argument is much more complex than merely transferring resources from the military to the more productive sectors, as some scholars have suggested. Annotation c.
