An Ordinary Woman from the Heart of the Inner City is an autobiographical book by the Hon. Cynthia Mother Pratt, the first female Deputy Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas; the first female acting Prime Minister in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas; the first female National Security Minister in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas; the first female Deputy Leader of a Major Political Party in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas; and the first female to present the national budget in the House of Assembly in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. This book focuses on the chronological history of her life, the fight and survival against poverty she endured as a child, her transition to higher education, her social and community fighting for the poor and disenfranchised, where she resides today in the inner city. It is a book of pain, struggle and triumph of how she became one of the most decorated women in Bahamian History, and one of the most decorated women in world history wearing many professional and dignitary titles. However, even with all accomplishments, she still sees herself as "an ordinary woman from the heart of the inner city."
