Author Description

About the Author Kyu-Hwa Kim was born in Seungju in Jellanam-do of Korea in 1940. She studied Korean literature, and got her BA and MA degrees from Dongguk University in Seoul. She taught Korean literature at Dongduk Women s University and at Daejeon University as an adjunct professor in the Department of Korean Literature. She has been publisher of Simunhaksa, a Korean literary magazine, since 1977. She made her formal debut in the literary world in the 1960s. Her collections of poems include Odd Prayer, Song Competition, An Abstract Trip, Ordinary Lyricism, Disappearing Autumn, Mangryang to Shadow, Floating Boat, and Green Stepping Stones. She was awarded the Hankuk Literary Award, the Hyundae Poet Award, the Dongkuk Literary Award, and the Docheon Literary Award. Hee-Jae Shin received her MA degree in linguistics from the University of Essex, England and a Ph.D. in English language and literature from Sogang University. She is currently teaching English as a full-time lecturer at Sungkyul University in Korea. She is the translator of poems by the Literary Society of Performing Good Poems, A Fountain of Inspiration.
