
This book attempts to review all medical and surgical aspects of cholangiocarcinoma in a systematic manner. The anatomy and development of the biliary duct, classification, etiology and risk factors, epidemiology, histopathology, pathogenesis, diagnostic modalities, preoperative assessment for resectability, surgical and nonsurgical treatment including palliative tratments of cholangiocarcinoma are described. Speicial types of cholangiocarcinoma, such as mucin-producing cholangiocarcinoma, biliary papillomatosis, and Klatskin tumor are also included. The goals of this book are to provide those who are studying cholangiocarcinoma with a chance of complete understanding;to present to the practicing physician the principles for the management of cholangiocarcinoma; and to give a stimulation to the student resident, or fellow to continue to search for knowledge of cholangiocarcinoma.
