
In the late Qing Dynasty, the beggar Chen Liuzi sneaked into Tonghe Dye House and changed his name to Chen Shouting. He was so talented that he secretly learned the dyeing skill and served as the master and manager of the dye house. Ten years later, Tonghe Dye House became the largest one in Zhoucun due to Chen Shouting's good management but he was not contented and he cooperated with a rich family in Zhangdian to establish the Dahua Dyeing Factory in Qingdao, thus stepping on the road of industrial printing and dyeing. After the September 18th Incident, Chen Shouting flatly refused the cooperation with Japanese businessmen and cooperated with Shanghai Lin's Dyeing Factory in virtue of Boycott Movement Against Japanese Goods; later, he grew into a tycoon of printing and dyeing industry. With a strong sense of patriotism and with the great help of national printing and dyeing counterparts, he forced the traitor dyeing factory to close down. Facing the war and the weak country, however, Chen Shouting could only smile hopelessly...
