This research contributes to the understanding of the problem of payment arrears and measures addressing them in the construction industry, especially in Mainland China. Besides providing a theoretical analysis framework, this research is also useful to business participants in the industry, as well as to law makers and regulators in devising, improving and implementing mechanisms for protecting payments in the construction industry.
