Author Description

This report is an indicator-based assessment of the progress being made by EU member states and candidate countries to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, in line with the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol. Assessment is made of national programmes in terms of actual results achieved during the period 1990-2000 and projected progress by 2010. It considers the effectiveness of policies, both national and Community-wide, and additional measures required. It focuses on trends in the main socio-economic sectors of energy supply, transport, industry, agriculture and waste management.
