For over a hundred years, American writers, musicians and visual artists have looked to and constructed the US South as a site of origin and a place of possibility. Looked to with nostalgia and newfound hope, the South--both idea and reality--is imbued with a sense of history and past-ness. When the Stars Begin to Fall brings together work from 1960 to the present by an intergenerational group of artists with varying degrees of academic- and self-training. Artists include: McArthur Binion, Lauren Kelley, Rodney McMillian, JB Murry, John Outterbridge, Jacolby Satterwhite, Xaviera Simmons, Stacy Lynn Waddell. Accompanied by a fully-illustrated exhibition catalogue.
