There was this place on the upper north-east side of town. A diner left over from the construction time of growth in the city. It sat awkwardly among the buildings out of place with time. Several owners have come and gone; no one knows how many or who they were. The only things left to tell the history are the permit papers tacked on the wall and the pictures of people that came to the diner. Friends long parted could be grandparents of ones coming now. The style is still the same, inside and out, just dusty and kept in running order. The old stools at the counter still turn, and the red vinyl is torn on all of them. The booths show wear on the edges, and old bubble gum still sticks underneath. Closed and left alone for several years, the diner is awaiting its fate.
