The third edition of Lithic Impressions, hosted at the Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen in Bruges, departed from an encounter with Ronald Van Belle, who has been documenting the lithic heritage of Bruges and beyond for the last 50 years by frottage, the Western counterpart to rubbing. Our first impulse was to couple our collections and let the free flow of comparison, transmission and of course replication build bridges between images, techniques and the contexts. Two days of discussions and workshops are planned for the event on January 25-26 2020, with the contribution of the European Lettering Institute and the vibrant calligraphic scene of Bruges.
