Life has an interesting way of testing our limits, and I found myself being tested by trying to complete two masters and two doctorates, one after the other. I had a demanding day-job while also working on my thesis, taking courses, writing papers, and reviewing material for publication. Plus, I was tackling the administrative requirements of postgraduate study like applications for grants and fellowships as well as managing all of the travel arrangements. It seemed like every hour was accounted for. Yet somehow it all got done - with not even a tear shed! I’d say that the proudest moments of my career journey were completing my second doctorate degree from Curtin University and getting tenure-track position at East Stroudsburg University, Pennsylvania, US. In hindsight, the journey would have been easier if I had planned my career. I don’t mean to sound vague, but I honestly didn’t start planning my career until after my second doctorate was completed. I had spent so much time in school, I simply needed a break from academia! I'm writing this book to share some of the lessons I learned during my career journey. I hope it’s helpful and meaningful to readers who are facing challenges of their own. Many people have influenced my thinking on the issues discussed in this book. That includes students, coworkers, and friends with differing backgrounds, interests and personalities – too many to list. This book will be beneficial to readers who are just starting their career, to those who have been through the trenches and to students who are just beginning their academic journey. It’s a book that I hope will be useful to readers as well as provide them with inspiration for their own academic and professional journeys. That said, I’ll also be frank about the book. In reading this book, readers may find themselves asking (even tempted to ask) “But what did you do? How did you do it?” Here’s the thing - it's not about me. It's all a matter
