Focusing mainly on the mechanisms and underlying pathophysiology of oxygen radicals in lung tissue, this volume provides state-of-the-art studies of the pathology associated with oxidant damage--coupled with important introductory sections on the basic chemistry and analysis techniques used to study the oxygen radical system. The chemistry, pathology, and physiology of the oxygen radical system are combined to provide a clear, comprehensive understanding of its effect on tissues. Topics discussed include alterations of antioxidant probes to study the damaging species, reperfusion injury, and neutrophil-independent tissue damage.
