Product Description A collection of activities, games, and play themes, accompanied by stories and rhymes to promote participation. From School Library Journal PreSchool-Grade 2 Miller has organized poems, stories, and activities into four sections, one for each season. Although most of the selections are intended for adults to use with preschoolers, many sections might be used in the primary grades as well. Most of the poems are familiar, including works by such authors as Robert Louis Stevenson, A. A. Milne, and Aileen Fisher, as well as traditional rhymes. Three of the seven short stories are based on well-known tales such as ``The North Wind and the Sun.'' The remaining four have a contemporary setting, and they lack originality. Most of the craft activities require only free or inexpensive materials, and the instructions are simple but complete. Pen-and-ink drawings alternate with watercolors, giving the compilation a visually pleasing presentation. While most of the British terminology won't present problems, the story about a boy's search at a bric-a-brac stall during a jumble sale might take some explanation and little ghosts in the U. S. probably wouldn't appreciate a ``Spooky Face Tea'' of mashed potato, sausages, and baked beans for a party treat. Some good material is in here, if readers sift them out.
