For all but a few specialists, Canada's military history remains a largely unexplored terrain. Until now, there was no single volume in which a reader could find the essential information on all of Canada's battles and campaigns from the French-Iroquois wars of the seventeenth century to the Gulf War, on key battlefield commanders, the important politicians involved with the military matters, and Canada's Victoria Cross winners, and a guide to the important weapons systems that the Canadian armed forces used.
