The fifth edition of "Human Geography" is a significant revision from the previous edition in that it integrates a discussion of globalisation throughout the text and explicitly labels the term a metaconcept; a concept that helps to frame our understanding of essential geographical concepts such as space, location, place, region, distance, scale, diffusion, perception, development and discourse. Chapters have been rewritten to emphasise the importance of globalisation for many areas of geographic study, including political geography, cultural geography and economic geography. The pedagogical impact of photographs has been emphasised through a new photgraph program that links images to principles and discussions in the text. The design of the entire book has been refreshed.
