
About the Author Vali Deccani was a famous Urdu poet, who was born as Vali-ullah at Aurangabad in 1667. He belongs to the family of Gujrat's famous sufi saint Shah Wajeeh-ud-Din Gujrati. He loved travelling, his visit to Delhi proved momentous. He died in Ahmedabad in 1707.Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal has an MA and PhD from the University of Karachi. He is the professor and chairman of Department of Urdu, University of Karachi and an eminent critic of Urdu literature with experience of editing texts of earlier poets directly from manuscripts. More than 35 of his researcharticles have been published in national and international research journals. He is the author of 5 books. He was the first Urdu poet who stylistically mixed Persian with Hindi in his poetry. His most favorite themes were mystical and earthly love. He is also known as the architect of the modern poetic language which is the blend of Persian and Hindi vocabulary.
