Product Description Australian Family Law: The Contemporary Context provides a critical approach to contemporary Australian family law. A description and analysis of the law is set in a broad context that includes theoretical and policy debates surrounding the law and the family as well as discussion of relevantempirical and research literature and reference where relevant to developments in overseas jurisdictions. The chapters of the book reflect a range of approaches depending on the particular material being covered. Some are necessarily more technical and cover traditionally recognized sub-categories of 'family law', while adopting a fresh approach to the materials and developing new ideas. Others aremore novel, wide-ranging and thematic. In each chapter the authors develop a main argument or arguments, which reflect the themes of the book - fragmentation, gender politics, child-centeredness and respect for diversity.
