Over the years, complex tools in social sciences have been developed to analyze the consequences of alternative policy decisions. Some of these tools are population growth and migration analysis, income accounting, cost-benefit analysis, programming, industrial complex analysis and input-output analysis. Over the last fifty years, these and other techniques have been used extensively to solve or manage regional problems. However, there has been continuous change in human settlement and location. Location of inputs and outputs are no longer concentrated within a particular country. The economy has become global. Technology and political geography have changed drastically. We need new tools of analysis. This volume presents some innovative tools of analysis.
