Studies of Indian economic development have in large part concentrated on the role of British imperial intervention in the region. This book, while attaching due importance to the effects of British rule, focuses on other economic factors, such as agricultural techniques and the land-manratio, to analyze the agrarian history of the Bombay Deccan.
