This study of Mohammed Iqbal's poetry seeks to arrive at an understanding of his personality and his relationship to the life of his times. The book provides a graphic, sympathetic yet critical picture of Iqbal's intellectual life. Providing a view of the contemporary political context, the text also meaningfully expresses the pre-Partition ethos, including the character of the Muslim intelligentsia and its dilemmas.
