In this second volume, Water Transport, Deloche traces the origin, development of communication systems before the era of steam locomotion; this time focusing on water transport. The author begins by describing the river basins in the North and the South and examines the various centers of coastal navigation. The second part is devoted to a detailed study of the various types of water transport used on the rivers and all the technical aspects of inland and coastal navigation.
