An attempt to preserve traditional fairytales that were once an oral legacy of every child in India. This book counts among the recent attempts to recover this disappearing heritage. It contains translations of six Bengali tales for children, selected from Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumdar's "Thakurmar Jhuli", some of which have appeared in very corrupt forms in comic books. The present translation seeks to capture the spirit of the original without losing any of its readability.
