This book tells the story of the Holloway Brothers, who, with their father, left the village of West Lavington in Wiltshire to seek and find their fortune in London. This family of master builders rose from humble origins to create one of the most prominent construction companies in the country, responsible for building and renovating many of the public buildings in London, including the Old Bailey, and the Bank of England. Their legacy is not confined to an impressive list of public works, but lies also in their descendants. Here, Lyn Dyson records the lives not only of the brothers, but also of their children and grandchildren, who continue to make a significant contribution to modern day society in various parts of the world.This is Volume One of a two-part story.
