Meta-analysis plays a crucial role in taking stock of literature, identifying and correcting biases in the field, testing relationships between multiple variables simultaneously, and identifying hidden moderation effects. Using two exemplary studies, we provide a step-by-step guide on conducting meta-analysis in the field of international business. We analyse the process of conducting a meta-analysis by reflecting upon the obvious, yet commonly overlooked mistakes made by meta-analysts. We suggest different protocols to avoid the mistakes and strategies to make meta-analysis a smooth and efficient procedure.
