Author Description

The protaganist of this novel, Bernard Voight, sets out on a train journey which, through the encounters he has with his fellow passengers becomes a journey of self discovery. Glimpses of his childhood are revealed and, while at an enforced stop, in helping a fellow passenger search for a friend reveals hidden resources within him...in exploring the obscure ways of the city he had penetrated into a hitherto unsuspected region in himself. It is a work of unusual originality written with great clarity and abounds in passages of lovely descriptive writing.
