
Proceedings of the Wildlife Working Group, formed in 1980 to encourage and facilitate the development of effective and standardized methodologies for wildlife habitat classification and evaluation, as well as to further the integration of wildlife values within an ecological land survey framework. A series of background papers are included in French and English, as well as reports of discussion groups, a summary of the workshop in its entirety, and a list of participants. Coverage includes recent advances in technology (ecological modelling, satellite assessment of wildlife) with their applications; the problem of people; identification of critical habitats; preparation of a draft manual on integration of wildlife resource assessment with ecological land survey; complexity vs. simplicity; ecotones; integration of fisheries into the system; and the exactness of wildlife management.
