Covering the standard aspects of any undergraduate course in public economics, this academic textbook gives special attention to the role of government in dealing with issues of poverty, social development and income distribution in South Africa. With a separate chapter on fiscal policy, the text is intended to offer more than a presentation of applied microeconomics. The macro dimensions are also explored, and by considering the implications of globalization for public economics at various points, the relevance of the book is further enhanced.
