Attempts at organizing the Pacific regional economy had been made through private forums and proposals for over two decades--and finally resulted recently in the formation of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum. This book probes the process of regional cooperation in Asia-Pacific by focusing on the roles and perspectives of China, Japan, and Southeast Asian states.
