Pulmonary ailments constitute the bulk of admissions to Neonatal Intensive Care Units, and assisted mechanical ventilation is the major therapeutic intervention. The introduction of new technologies, such as real-time pulmonary graphic monitoring, is both exciting and intimidating to those unfamiliar with its applications. This book effectively fills that void. It provides the reader with not only the physiologic background and principles of pulmonary mechanics evaluation, but also graphic representation of the various respiratory waveforms and integrated loops that are derived from breath-to-breath data.
