A girl named Jill. A guy named Haddock. Downeast Maine in 1961. A comedy. Jill Jopling is a quirky Arizona girl with a bit of a problem on her hands - she's just received a proposal from her pen-pal boyfriend whom she's never laid her eyes on before. To think things over, she retreats to her cousin Penny's little house on an incredibly tiny island in Downeast Maine. There she meets a pair of old sisters, one gruff, one sweet; a carefree fisherman who has trouble keeping track of his hat; a bumbling millionaire's daughter; and the most difficult creature on the island - Haddock.
