There are few houses built at the commencement of the sixteenth century remaining in England, fewer than might at first be imagined; and of these, most are in ruins, or so altered, as to have little of their original character. Hengrave stands a fair, and, in some respects, a unique example of the domestic architecture of that period. This is a photographic reproduction of the original book about the house and its owners published in 1822 by John Gage, Esq. ISBN 0954901878
