This case study was completed as part of a national research study of a sample of secondary schools across Canada that had a reputation for success. The study examines five issues: the meaning and recognition of success; the interaction between the school and its context; the influence of structures, processes, and culture of the school in fostering success; the characteristics of student life in the school; and services provided to students at risk of becoming dropouts. This study describes a school on a Peguis reserve near Lake Winnipeg. Sections of the study describe the history of the school and its coming under control of the Peguis band, the findings of a school community workshop, community and parent relations, native studies, school administration and curriculum, school life and activities, teaching staff, and student attitudes. The appendix presents the case study methodology.
