She presents nationally at conferences on literacy development and instruction and has written numerous articles, children's non-fiction books, and professional resources. Shores has written dozens of nonfiction books for kids. She studied English and Spanish at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. She lives in Minnesota with her two kids, a big orange cat, and a small, fluffy dog. Since she was little, Jeni Wittrock has loved reading, writing, and animals. In 2005, after earning her MFA in creative writing, Jeni began writing and editing children’s books for Capstone Press. Her interests include natural history, biology, science, and pet care, so it’s no wonder that she often writes books about those topics. Jeni shares her Minneapolis home with her beloved furry family members―cats, rabbits, tarantulas, and many other misfit pets. In her spare time, she volunteers for a local rabbit rescue and adoption agency.
