OPCPA is an alternative technique to "conventional" laser amplification with the possibility to generate ultrashort pulses, the highest energies, and a wide variety of wavelengths. The technology is now finding widespread acceptance due to its tremendous possibilities. All major laser groups are working on different implementations, and the laser field is experiencing a major shift towards OPCPA.
