Without neglecting the heritage of earlier achievements, it highlights such brilliant breakthroughs in molecular genetics as the creation of transgenic animals as a source of a new pathogenesis of hypertension.A core of (patho)physiological mechanisms operative in experimental hypertension is provided, including several which act to maintain a normotensive state.
